MeetHub - Introduction
In the world today, there are many different and widely used social applications, to name a few: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. What these social applications promote is long distance chatting and media sharing with friends and people bonded by similar interests. What people lack, however, are a means to communicate with people around them safely. Today as most people absorb themselves with their devices, social interaction is dwindling, and what our project aims to be is a crutch for people to talk through their devices and then meet in person once they have established their personalities, characters, and hobbies. We have proposed to do this though a hub, a small circle where people can come in and leave at any time, talk with users they don’t have to actually meet face to face until they feel comfortable.
Safety, lack of confidence, and language barriers are all real concerns that separate people from going out and talking to strangers. The goal is to have this all established in our application as they chat through the hub. This directly benefits everyone, and can be used by everyone. People who find it difficult to talk to others may find it easier when they connect on different interests. People who are afraid of being themselves can do so through an anonymous chat and have nothing to lose. People who want to voice an opinion about the latest episode of a new television show can talk with live people around them and bond with them.
This app can be helpful for people who are willing to communicate with others in real life.
This project is a community-based web application that promotes social interactions in real world environment.
The web application is perfect for people who like to travel and meet people in different cities/countries as well as to explore popular places close to their current location.
This application may be used for social events organization and promotion of social businesses such as cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, museums, galleries, nightclubs and others that involve people to gather.
